Eleven days after the biggest Pokémon TCG launch of the decade, the market has already done something to the 30th Celebration chase cards that most collectors did not predict. The two Futuristic Rares, the rarest cards in the set, are worth a fraction of what they commanded at launch. In the same week, a single unnumbered Mew from the Classic Collection quietly became the most expensive card of 2026.
30th Celebration launched simultaneously worldwide on September 16, 2026, and by September 25 the singles market had sorted itself out. Presale prices built around scarcity collapsed the moment packs hit tables, while a few cards nobody ranked before release took the top of the board. If you want to know which cards to chase, what they actually cost, and what happens when Wave 2 lands on October 2, this guide covers all three.
Every price below is what a card sells for, with source and date attached, as of late September 2026. Prices move daily in this set, so treat the numbers as a snapshot, not a promise.
A Set Built for 30 Years of Collectors
This is the first worldwide simultaneous Pokémon TCG release ever, with no Japanese head start and no regional early access. The set carries 199 cards: 128 main-set cards, secret rares, the 30-card Classic Collection reprint subset, and 8 foil Basic Energy. The main 128 are Standard-legal as of September 25; only the Classic Collection is not.
Two pack-level decisions define the chase. Every card is foil, including the energy. Every pack contains exactly one of 30 unique Pikachu cards, so even the floor of the set is a collectible with a defined goal. The designers turned the pack itself into a reason to keep opening.
The new rarity tier is Futuristic Rare, or FUR: opalescent full-art cards by YOSHIROTTEN. Exactly two sit in the main set, Mewtwo ex (157/128) and Mew ex (158/128), with a third FUR, a UPC-exclusive Pikachu ex promo, scheduled for November 6. New rarity tiers create new price benchmarks, and these two were the set's loudest presale story. For the full product and rarity breakdown, see our 30th Anniversary Celebration set guide.
The 30th Celebration Chase Cards: The 10 Most Wanted, Live Prices
Ranked by current market value, the chase tier is a mix of classic reprints and modern secret rares. All ten prices are sourced: IGN medians were measured September 18, TCGplayer Market prices September 25, and Cardmarket trends come from late September.
| Rank | Card | USD market | Cardmarket (EUR) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Mew R/G/B secret (30C B/RGB) | ~$29,540 (eBay UK, Sep 18) | From €2,400 |
| 2 | Crystal Lugia (Classic: Aquapolis 149 reprint) | $226.48 (IGN, Sep 18) | Trend €241.35 |
| 3 | Mew ex SIR (152/128) | $212.37 (IGN, Sep 18); $157.76 (TCGplayer) | Trend €141.64 |
| 4 | Charizard (Classic: Base Set reprint) | $175.45 (IGN, Sep 18) | n/a |
| 5 | Gengar ex SIR (154/128) | $168.54 (IGN, Sep 18) | Trend €114.13 |
| 6 | Mew ex Futuristic Rare (158/128) | $142.33 median (IGN, Sep 18) | Trend €95.03 |

| Watch | Mewtwo ex Futuristic Rare (157/128) | $78.18–79.38 (TCGplayer, Sep 25) | Trend €141.77 |
The number one card is not a Futuristic Rare. It is the Palm Reader Mew, an unnumbered Classic Collection secret with colored-energy art, which sold for about $29,540 on eBay UK. On Cardmarket it opens at €2,400 with 31 tracked items. That is a genuine grail: the most expensive individual card of the year in a set that launched eleven days ago. It belongs in every conversation about the most expensive Pokémon cards of 2026.
Three of the ten are Classic Collection reprints, and the biggest surprise of the set is Crystal Lugia at number two. It reprints the Aquapolis 149 Lugia, whose original printing trades near $10,000, and its gold-bordered remake jumped ahead of every modern secret rare in week one. The full 30-card list with each original printing is in our Classic Collection guide.
The artist lineup explains the SIR demand. kantaro's Day and Night Pikachu pair (149/128 and 150/128) is the completionist draw and the cheapest entry into the cover-art tier. CHORISO's Gengar ex (154/128) gives the set its horror hit. The YOSHIROTTEN FUR pair rounds out the top with the rarity story. European collectors can compare live listings for all of these on Cardmarket, and US buyers on TCGplayer.
30th Celebration Pull Rates: What the Odds Actually Say
Only one rate is official: every pack contains one of the 30 Pikachu cards. Everything else is community telemetry, and Pokémon does not disclose the rest, so treat the numbers below as well-sourced estimates.
The Futuristic Rare sits at roughly 1 in 72 hobby packs, per industry-reported figures from athlonsports and rippr.app. The secret illustration rares run near 1 in 19 packs, and illustration rares 1 in 5 to 10. Distribution-case telemetry points to one Classic Collection reprint in 6 packs and one texture-foil ex in 4.
Do the math on the FUR number, because it explains the price action in the next section. At 1 in 72, a display case of Booster Bundles delivers only about two FUR cards. That is scarce, but it is not one-of-a-kind, and every case opened from here adds supply to a market that already priced these cards as if they were unique.
Futuristic Rare: The Crash That Defined Launch Week
Start with Mew ex FUR (158/128). Its September 18 median was $142.33, and one launch-day copy sold for $3,166.50. By late September, tracker tcgindex put it near $119.40, down 94.4% across 30 days and 82.9% across seven. The identical pattern hit Mewtwo ex FUR (157/128): presales ran $700 and higher, some past $1,000, and NM listings now sit around $78 to $79 on TCGplayer as of September 25. Its Cardmarket trend of €141.77 still carries early sales, while new listings open near €80.
This is a case study in presale hype meeting real supply. At $700 to $1,000, FUR cards carried a scarcity premium assigned before a single pack opened. Then the packs opened, both cards turned up at the telemetry rate, and the market repriced them inside a week. The collectors who sold presale hype funded the ones who bought after launch. Our stance: the crash is healthy. No card should hold a tenfold premium for the two weeks it exists only as speculation, and FUR cards are now the most interesting value in the set for exactly that reason.
Grading is not part of that story yet. No verified PSA population data exists for 30th Celebration, because submissions have not come back, so any early gem-mint claim is noise. History says modern-set PSA 10s run roughly 3 to 10 times raw, and the first PSA 10 Futuristic Rares will reshuffle this board when they return. Until then, the raw crash is the real signal. See our PSA 10 versus raw analysis for why the gap behaves this way.
Wave 2 (Oct 2): More Packs, Falling 30th Celebration Prices
Wave 2 arrives October 2 with the pure-pack vehicles the set was missing. The Booster Bundle costs $26.94 for 6 packs and is the only way to buy raw packs at volume, since no booster box exists outside Japan. The Day & Night Mini Tins run $9.99 for 2 packs, across 10 designs whose Unown spelling forms ANNIVERSARY when lined up. The Binder Collection #1 at $31.99 pairs 5 packs with a 9-pocket binder built for the 30 Pikachu challenge.
Ignore the "#1" at your peril: there are two Binder Collections. The second ships December 4 alongside a $21.99 4-pack ex Tin, which tells you the 30-Pikachu completion product was always a two-chapter plan. Expect the chase cards to keep sliding through October as this new pack volume filters into singles, which makes mid-October the best entry point for FUR and SIR buyers. Compare the timing with what happened around Pitch Black's launch-day market and our 30th Anniversary preorder strategy for the sealed side.
European prices run higher than US dollars, and it is worth knowing the gap. A Booster Bundle presells around €35.99 to €39.99 on Cardmarket, which at about 1 € ≈ 1.16 $ lands well above the $26.94 US MSRP. Sealed product is already easing as Wave 1 stock lands, per Quaza Collect data in Canadian dollars: the Pokémon Center ETB at $829.82 is down 21.5% in seven days, the Binder Collection down 32.9%, and the November Ultra-Premium Collections down roughly 6 to 7%. The anniversary precedent is on your side: Celebrations sealed about doubled from retail and then settled.
One more November note for promo collectors: the third FUR card, the UPC-exclusive Pikachu ex, lands with the Ultra-Premium Collections on November 6 and will be its own chase. Our top promo cards to invest in covers how exclusive promos price themselves.
Protect the Chases Before You Grade Them
These cards are all foil, and the FUR finish is an opalescent surface that fingerprints if you breathe near it. Sleeve the moment you pull, and put anything heading toward grading in a toploader before it travels. Protect the cards that carry your collection value.

Ultra Pro ToploadersBuy on Amazon →The toploader binder is the right home for the 30 Pikachu challenge pages, and the toploaders themselves are the standard for protecting chases before they go to PSA. If your collection runs deeper than the chases, our storage and organization guide covers the full system.
Then track prices the way you track the cards. This set repriced in days, not months, so a price list you wrote down last week is already stale. Live market data is the only reliable approach.
